Kiev Polytechnic Institute have developed a technology of low-cost and high quality raw materials for paper industry from the straw of cereal crops. According to their calculations, the technology has significant economic benefits for the Ukrainian industry.

This told the Vice-rector NTUU KPI on science, assistant professor of ecology and technology of plant polymers Valery Barabash. He explained that in order to obtain quality raw materials must be removed from the straw-binding substance is lignin.

We have developed and patented a number of modifications organosolventnyh ways in which the delignification takes place in the organic medium gently, with minimal environmental pollution and the high yield of final product, - said the scientist.

According to him, the developed technology has significant economic benefits for the Ukrainian industry.

If you implement this technology, for example, Zhidachevskom pulp and paper mills, the productivity of their economic impact would be approximately $ 10 million a year - sure Barabash.

According to the calculationsof the Professional Association УкрпапіÑ€, estimated cost of construction of a new enterprise for the production of products for the paper industry of straw will be 60-100 million, and payback period, with 15 per cent profitability - 5-7 years.

Nowadays in Ukraine there are substantial reserves of unused straw cereals. In general, each year around the country remain untapped 20 million 880 thousand tons of straw.
