Karzai is leading in the presidential elections in Afghanistan

In the past August 20, 2009 presidential election in Afghanistan defeated current head of the country, Hamid Karzai, who collected 68% of the vote, said Finance Minister Omar Zahelvala Afghanistan, reports Reuters.

According Zahelvala, the first voting results were presented today at a special meeting of the Government of Afghanistan. Conclusions were made based on the calculation of 5 million 450 thousand ballots. Karzai was in their support for 3 million votes, while his main rival - former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah - 1.5 million votes.
